Telos is a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain designed to address critical limitations in existing networks, particularly in scalability, energy efficiency, and developer accessibility. It features two integrated components:
Telos EVM bridges the native Telos Zero layer with the Ethereum ecosystem by running Ethereum-compatible smart contracts with superior performance. Developers can use Ethereum tools and libraries (e.g., ethers.js, web3.js) without modification, ensuring seamless adoption.
The EVM operates as a smart contract within the Telos Zero layer, leveraging the Antelope.io framework's high-performance WebAssembly (WASM) runtime. It translates Ethereum JSON-RPC calls to native APIs and supports Solidity and Vyper code, making it accessible to a broad spectrum of developers. Upcoming features, such as a custom indexing API, will enhance data access for use cases like token management and NFTs.
The base layer of Telos, known as Telos Zero, is built on Antelope.io, an open-source platform designed for high-throughput, low-latency blockchain operations. It provides essential blockchain functions such as account management, consensus, and state storage. Through the WASM runtime, Telos Zero enables the development of smart contracts in multiple languages, including C++, Rust, and Typescript.
Telos Zero also manages system resources through three key parameters:
TLOS serves as the native utility and governance token of the Telos ecosystem. It powers all transactions and interactions within both Telos Zero and Telos EVM. The token is integral to the platform’s low-cost operations and incentivizes its decentralized governance model.
