ℹ️ Introduction to Cardano Faucets

Because Cardano testnets are entirely separate from the mainnet, they use their own versions of ada — test tokens that enable development and experimentation without financial risk. These test tokens are distributed through a faucet, a simple web-based tool that lets developers and stake pool operators (SPOs) request small amounts of test ada.

While these tokens have no market value, they are essential for testing features like transaction workflows, smart contracts, wallet behavior, and delegation mechanics in both the Preview and Pre-Production environments.

To use the faucet:

  1. Choose the action you need (e.g., receive test ada or delegate to a pool).
  2. Enter your testnet wallet address or stake pool ID (in bech32 format).
  3. If you have an API key — for example, if you're part of a larger testing program — enter it to access additional funds.
  4. Click "Receive test ada" and the funds will be sent to your specified testnet account within minutes.

For SPOs testing delegation, the faucet can simulate delegation to your pool by sending test ada and staking it. Just select the appropriate testnet and choose the “receive pool delegation” option from the action menu.

This faucet system is a vital utility for safely building, experimenting, and stress-testing Cardano applications and infrastructure — all without touching real funds.
