The Arbitrum testnets are designed for testing purposes and are connected to the respective Ethereum testnets, using test Ether with no real-world value.
Arbitrum Sepolia functions as a testnet chain that replicates the capabilities of Arbitrum One's main network. Integrated with the Sepolia testnet, it provides developers with a secure platform for experimenting with and assessing their smart contracts prior to deploying them on the mainnet.
Arbitrum Goerli is a testnet chain that mirrors the functionality of the Arbitrum One mainnet. It is connected to the Ethereum Goerli testnet, enabling developers to test their smart contracts in a risk-free environment before deploying them on the mainnet.
Stylus employs Nitro technology and enables efficient smart contract development using programming languages like Rust, C, and C++. Leveraging Arbitrum's EVM equivalence, Stylus contracts achieve impressive speed and reduced gas fees. Full interoperability between Solidity and Stylus contracts opens up new possibilities, while substantially lowering memory costs unlocks innovative use cases for blockchain technology.
<aside> ⚠️ Important notes:
1️⃣ Stylus is currently undergoing significant upgrades, and some of these enhancements may necessitate a chain reset. Before such a reset occurs, developers utilizing the testnet are advised to withdraw their testnet ETH. It's worth noting that, because this is a testnet environment, withdrawals are processed rapidly, typically within minutes, without the usual 7-day delay. After withdrawing their testnet ETH, developers should redeploy their contracts on the upcoming new chain. The Stylus testnet will be deprecated once stylus comes out of beta and is enabled on the Sepolia testnet.
2️⃣ Ethereum Goerli was deprecated in Q1 2023 but will be supported until Q4 2023. Once Arbitrum Sepolia becomes publicly available, we will phase out the usage of Arbitrum Goerli. Support for Arbitrum Goerli will cease prior to the conclusion of Ethereum Goerli.
